One of the most important things we can ever do in life is to say, “Thank you,” to those people that make a difference in our lives (especially on their birthday!). This is something I believe in strongly, try to do it as often as possible and have even created the program, Say Thank You ASAP! The abbreviation of which is my license plate, STYASAP.
This program would not be near as evolved had it not been for the encouragement and guidance of a dear friend. This is someone that I have known for less than a year yet can tell you that we will be friends for the rest of our lives. He consistently shares his knowledge, experience and resources with me expecting nothing in return. Or conversations start off with who has the worst medical problem that day and then inevitably progress into brainstorming sessions that require at least five pages of notes. This is what happens when your partner in the conversation has an IQ that is off the charts.
I share all of this with you because today is the birthday of that very same man. The greatest gift I can give him on this day of celebration is to tell him about the impact he has had in this short time we have known each other. It all boils down to this: he challenges me to be better as a person and professional. I am grateful for what he has done and look forward to seeing where this “partners-in-crime” thing takes us.
He is known be different names including: Doctor, Gadget, Dad, and genius. Some people call him Maurice, ‘cause he speaks of the pompatus of love according to Steve Miller (always wanted to use that line). No matter what anyone else calls him, for me one name says it all … FRIEND.
Happy Birthday, Maurice. Thank you for being a giving, caring and helpful friend. May this year of your life be filled with joy, success and all the gluten contaminated food your heart desires!
Life is beautiful!
